    Activities:

    • Briefing on the Programme and the responsibilities of mentors

    • Talk by Matthew Lui on youth mentors as role models (Matthew is a Steering Committee member – he is a rehabilitated youth and former youth leader)

    • Visit to BGCA where the director-in-charge -  a seasoned youth social

       worker - and two teenage participants from BGCA’s mentoring programme “Growing Partners” shared their experiences and feedback

    • A half day gender training workshop on eating disorders, gender stereotyping and the influence of mass media in Hong Kong was delivered by HEDA

    • The big brothers and sisters helped prepare the promotion letters and made cold calls to secondary schools to promote the educational programme

    • More than two-third of last year’s TEENs joined the Alumni association and nearly all of them ran for one of the 13 committee positions

    • A democratic election for the T.E.E.N. Alumni Committee took place. Each candidate had to state their platform and proposals to get support for their candidacy

    • A talk on financial literacy delivered by a SG staff who is a columnist and author to illustrate the concept of “money” and the importance of saving money.  He also shared his personal experience of selling recycled items with his sons in the “Dawn Market” at Sham Shui Po, the one most deprived district in Hong Kong.

    • A range of youth speakers including a teenage mother, a former triad society member and drug addict, a teenage girl who experienced date rape and under-aged sex with triad member, and a university graduate who started a social enterprise shared their touching experience to the TEENs.

    • The TEENs were able to practise their new skills and make their own products in class







    D.I.Y. Sales and TEEN Presentation at TWF’ Annual Gala Dinner

    • The TEENs sold their DIY aromatherapy products to  guests at the Gala Dinner to raise funds for TWF

    • The TEEN participants donated used clothes and their pocket money for the visit

    • They helped arrange and distribute dinner boxes, drinks, fruits, and other snacks to the street sleepers, and talked to them

    Richard Ivey School of Business Summer Business Programme

    Activities:

    • The Richard Ivey School of Business provided TWF with an assisted place for one fortunate TEEN to participate in its prestigious two-week 2012 Summer Business Programme in Hong Kong. The Programme is a pre-university course for university-bound Grade 11-12 students designed to build their leadership skills and the fundamentals they will need to work in teams and to succeed in the business world. We recommended a numbers of TEENs from our first cohort. After a rigorous interview process, Ivey chose TEEN participant Jian Feng Liu to join the pogramme, which he described as life changing and inspirational.


    T.E.E.N. Alumni Summer Camp

    Activities:

    • To build up the cohesiveness and team spirit between the two cohorts of Teens

    • An Alumni get-together for sharing of their recent life

     

     

    Art Workshop – DIY Accessories Workshop

    Location: Déjà vu Creation Office

    Activities:

    • The workshops was co-organized with a social enterprise, Déjà vu Creation, which produces accessories by making use of recycled materials

    • The participants learned to make personal wristbands and rings using recycled leather and plastic banners







    Recycle Funfair 2012

    • The Teens designed and ran a booth game to promote “Green Life”

    • Three other Teens gave two performance shows on street dance and singing with guitar playing








    Community Work - 3D Vertical Gardening Tower

    Location: Yuen Long

    Activities:

    • Introduction of the purposes and features of vertical gardening towers

    • The participants delivered the bricks and assisted in constructing the foundation of vertical gardening tower



    Hong Chi Association (Social Enterprise) Visit

    Venue: Hong Chi Association

    Activities:

    • Tour around Hong Chi Association, including their hotel, restaurant and organic farm

    • The Teens experienced organic farming and DIY cakes

     









    Exploration Tour on the Life of Ethnic Minorities

    Date:      August 27, 2012
    Location: Chung King Mansion

    Activities:

    • Understanding Hong Kong’s diverse culture through a tour of Chung King Mansion and interviews with ethnic minorities

     





    Leftover Fruit Collecting and Jam Making Workshop

    Date:      September 30, 2012
    Location: Yau Ma Tei Fruit Wholesale Market

    Activities:

    • Organized by Leftovers, a local group that targets reducing waste, the workshop taught the Teens about the scope of Hong Kong’s food waste issues

    • The Teens collected edible fruit from Yau Ma Tei Fruit Wholesale Market, learnt to make jam from over ripened or slightly blemished fruit and distributed the unused fruits and pastries to Yau Ma Tei’s street sleepers



    Set-up of Alumni Committee

    Activities:

    • A meeting was organized with the Alumni Committee Members who were divided into 4 Sub-committees, (Volunteer Activity Sub-committee, Life Experience Sub-committee, Leisure Activity Sub-committee and Skills Workshop Sub-committee) and tasked with initiating and organizing activities under their respective ambits

    Activities:

    • One of the Teens gave a touching speech on her transformation as a result of joining the TEEN Programme. The vice- principal of her school also spoke at the event

    • Some of the Teens enjoyed the Chung Ying Theatre Community Performance of “Christmas Messages: ReallySnowing”

    Activities:

    • Organized and hosted by the Leisure Activity Sub-committee

    • Teens from both Year 1 and 2 joined the party and enjoyed the interactive games
