Board of Directors

Noriko Honda Chen is an Investment Analyst, Portfolio Manager and Research Director for Capital Group, a US-based fund management company. She is an analyst covering the Asian oil & gas industry and invests in global small capitalization companies. Noriko is a US citizen and a HK permanent resident and has been in Asia for 19 years, 14 of them in Hong Kong where she currently resides with her husband and two children.

Roz Hongsaranagon is an investment analyst for Capital Research Company with research responsibilities for small- and mid-cap companies in Asia. She graduated magna cum laude in international relations and economics from Brown University. Apart from her involvement with TWF, she is also a member of the Grameen Foundation Capital Markets Committee and an ex-officio board member of the Grameen Foundation Advisory Council. She is currently based in Hong Kong.

Thelma Kwan Thelma Kwan is the Executive Director of Trust Services at LGT Management Services (HK) Ltd. She was born, bred and educated in Hong Kong, and holds a LL.M degree from The University of Hong Kong. Thelma is a barrister by training and since departure from the Bar to join the financial industry, has acquired many years of experience in cross border wealth and tax planning. The present focus of her work is on wealth and succession planning, family governance and philanthropy. She has a strong interest in the arts, is a staunch supporter of theatre in education; and very keen on finding avenues to guide and shape girls' growth and in expanding their roles in the Hong Kong community.

Estella Huang Lung was the former Managing Director of the Children’s Medical Foundation, a non-profit that funds healthcare solutions for orphaned and underprivileged children in Asia; she has since joined their Board of Directors. Estella was a founding board director of The Women’s Foundation and formerly led the Fundraising and Programming committees. She now serves as Chairperson. Before moving into nonprofit, Estella was an equity researcher for an investment bank. Estella also founded Mazuma Holdings Inc., a property investment and development company in Canada. She was born in Vancouver and educated at The University of Western Ontario. She has lived in Hong Kong for 14 years, and is a permanent resident of Hong Kong.

Kay McArdle is an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. She joined Goldman Sachs in March 2000 and spent her first 6 years at the firm specializing in Employee Relations. Kay received her B.A. (Honours) from the University of Reading in England where she majored in German. She then studied to become a lawyer. On qualification, Kay worked as a litigator specializing in employment law at law firms in the UK and then Hong Kong before joining Goldman Sachs. Kay was admitted to practice law in both the UK and Hong Kong. Kay lives in Hong Kong with her husband and their three young children.

Pamela Smith is the co-founder of The Women’s Foundation. She also serves on the Women’s Leadership Board at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, the Board of the New York-based Fund for Women in Asia, the Advisory Board of the Vail Symposium, and the Board of Trustees of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado. She has held leadership positions in women's organizations in the United States, Austria, Switzerland, and Hong Kong. She has been a lifelong advocate for women, including involving women and girls in the political process, establishing leadership development programs for women, and assuring equitable representation of women on decision-making boards and commissions. She is a partner in an import/export business.

Rebecca Woo is an equity salesperson at a US investment bank. She has lived in Hong Kong for most of her life. She has an A.B. from Harvard University and an M.A. from the University of London. While this is Rebecca's first active involvement in philanthropy, she is enthusiastic about being a catalyst for positive change in the lives of women and girls in Hong Kong.

Mike Yao is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Communication Research and the Department of English and Communication, City University of Hong Kong. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also holds bachelor degrees in Psychology and Film Studies. Mike’s research focuses on the social and psychological impacts of media, and empirically tests assumptions made by law and legal actors in the area of free speech and censorship. He has conducted several empirical studies examining the influence of sex in media upon men’s perception and attitude toward women.
